Just loaded the pictures from our "staycation" (took vacation but didn't go far).
First, we went to downtown Austin and
watched the bats come out. Next, we took the tour of the
Inner Space Caverns in Georgetown. Last, we
spent a day in Houston where we
saw an Astros game and visited the Johnson Space Center.

to that, so I finally decided to upload these here. So now we're caught up to almost the end of

The website and email went dead for a few days because the domain name expired.
I paid the bill (why we weren't notified beforehand I do not know), so everything
is back to normal. We're a little behind in posting pictures. The
Renaissance Festival
pictures are there, but I'm still working on the pictures from a couple more events.

I went to Indian River
Adventure Park this past weekend. Lots of rope bridges, zip lines,
and Tarzan ropes hanging between trees, 20ft in the air. It was a blast!
Afterward, had a nice dinner
at the Kolars'.

Finally got around to posting the pictures from the past month, including the
vacation in Washington DC
and the kids' 1st day of school.
Brad is in France for another month while the family moves into the Anatole house.
Since it's Brad who posts these pictures, the Austin photos from September won't
appear until October.

It was SOOOO hot in the (un-air-conditioned) apartment yesterday, we decided
to take a ride in the air-conditioned car. We chose as our destination a small
village 45min north of here in the mountains near Albertville called
Pussy. It seems this
is not at all an offensive word in French, so no one finds the name odd.
It was actually a very picturesque little town -- kind of Bavarian-looking.

Another burst of picture-posting today. Added the photos from our late-June vacation
in Sitges, Spain
(30min south of Barcelona), as well as from the
Tour de France,
which almost literally rode right past our house! Kind of a Letterman
"brush with greatness". We also threw in a couple pictures
from moving day,
when we moved into temp housing in Grenoble, on our way back to the US.
In fact, the WiFi in the apartment is SO much faster than the DSL in the old house,
that it's a joy to upload these pictures now!

Just added movies to two dates: Kids Summer Camp (in which the kids describe what they did at camp) and
Craig Gunderson Sightseeing
(in which you see parasailers take off in the Alps). Go back and check them out.
The movies are kinda big (5-16MB), so this is for broadband users.

Just uploaded the pictures from our trip to Paris last weekend. We had crappy weather,
so not pretty pictures but a couple good ones of the kids. Also updated the
"Funny Stuff in Europe" section.

Got back last week from another American-style vacation: all move, no rest.
Took 350 pictures, of which a few are now posted here. Visited a bunch of castles
in the Loire valley, then saw several battlefields -- Waterloo (Napolean),
Verdun (WWI) and Bastogne (WWII). Also added a couple pictures to the
Funny Stuff and Castles sections.

A big burst of picture-posting today. Finally finished with the London pictures.
In the meantime, the kids started school, we went saw a bullfight in Arles with
Kae & Rich, and we had a picnic in Vizille (also with Kae & Rich).

Posted maybe half of the pictures from our August trip to the U.K. Between us, we took 850 photos
(all of prize-winning quality, of course). We spent a week in Perth (30 miles north
of Edinburgh) and a week in London. We got DRENCHED in Edinburgh with heavier-than-usual
rain for two days, so there are not a lot of pictures of that city. But we did see
lots of nice Scottish castles / palaces. Still working on the pictures from London, to be
posted later.

Got back last week from a week-long trip to Italy. Together, Holly & Brad took
542 photos (Holly's enjoying her cool new digital camera). However, you will be happy to
know that the photos here are (as usual) limited to less than 30 per city.

I took 500 photos over our week-long Spring Break vacation, and it took me a while to
label / filter them for the web page. They're all there now, but I still need to go
through the 100 pictures I took while castle hunting this weekend...

Ian & Jaz went to camp for a week and had a GREAT time. They each took single-use
cameras, but didn't take them all, so the only pictures we have here are at the train station
going and coming back.

I just realized I hadn't posted pictures from a year ago and we had zero pictures between
Oct 2001 and Oct 2002. So I just posted pictures from our look-see trip to France in July,
our visit to Cleveland in September, the kid's first day of school and Ian's birthday
in August, etc.

We're back from our vacation in southern Germany and have uploaded hundreds of vacation photos for your
viewing pleasure. We visited Triberg, a Maginot Line fortress, Legoland, Munich,
the Dachau WWII concentration camp, the Neuschwanstein castle (which Disney used as a model for
their castle), Hitler's Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgaten, and Salzburg. Thus, lots of pictures.

Chartreuse mountain is burning just north of Grenoble.

Not necessarily great pictures, but hey, they required a 4-second exposure!
Chartreuse is just north of Grenoble, and the village of St. Egreve can be seen at the base
of the the mountain in one of the pictures.
Flames are visible, and one picture even looks like a volcano, with red glowing smoke rising
from the top of the mountain. We were told the goverment has decided to let the fire burn because
the area is so inaccessible, and because all the biggest equipment is fighting the really bad fires
in southern France.
